A Gravity Corer is used to allow researchers and surveyors to take core samples of the seabed. It is lowered over the side of a vessel, with a long barrel which penetrates into the seabed under it's own weight, and collects the core sample. Vulcan Offshore were approcahed by an international company who complete offshore survey work, they had a requirement for two new Gravity Core bombs and 3.0m core barrels.  The core bombs weigh 500Kg each, with additional 50Kg weight plates which can be added depending on the seabed conditions, up to a maximum of 1,200Kg.
