Route Clearance Mobilisation

2020 \\ Onsite Work

Before laying subsea cable it is necessary for the route beneath the sea to be cleared of any debris or hazards. For this cable lay in the North Sea it was necessary to clear boulders before the cable lay could take place. Boulder clearance is generally complete using an ROV and grab hook. Vulcan Offshore were contracted into to complete the vessel mobilisation which required the welding of the LARs frame and brackets, Winch grillage, removing a section of the bulwark for launching the ROV and the addition of steps and cable trays. All the work had 100% NDT and was completed within a very short time window to allow the client to leave port on time.
